    Situation

With palliative care modules still only an optional module on most degree and diploma courses, those who wish to specialise in end of life care need to pay for further training to develop the specialist skills they need and to keep up with the latest research. The costs of training have been rising and hospices have very limited training budgets.

    Solution

These grants give individuals of high ability access to the best training possible, regardless of their financial situation. Hospices can apply on behalf of a staff member for a maximum of 50% of course or module fees, up to a total of £1,500 per year. Bursaries may be used to help finance a wide range of courses, conferences and study days. This will help to improve the quality of care given to people in need of palliative care and their families.
