    Situation

Fife is a large local authority area in Scotland where communities experience real symptoms of being rurally excluded. There are a large number of old mining vilages and small towms where communities have experienced unemployment and are still struggling to recover. There is rural exclusion in terms of the geography, exacerbated by limited public transport. Key areas have some of the highes social disadvantage indicators in Scotland.

    Solution

The Byre Theatre will produce a high quality touring programme of theatre and performing arts, artists in residence programmes and a range of supporting education and outreach workshops that will be presented in these key villages and small town in Fife to address inequalities in provision. The Byre has a proven track record producing new work for early years, children and families and adults across the genres. the Byre @ will take this type of arts menu to these hard to reach communities.
