    Situation

There are a large number of Zimbabweans in Leicester caught in the asylum process over many years. This difficult situation has dragged on leaving them drained and dispirited as well as isolated and overwhelmed. The ZA meets the increasing welfare needs of members by providing grassroots local support. We aim to strengthen the Zimbabwean community enabling it to become actively involved at a local level.

    Solution

The Drop In Centre helps individuals strengthen and recover their self esteem enabling them to offer support to others. Centre members form a united group which participates in local community events and raises awareness of issues surrounding asylum. The Drop In Centre helps break down barriers and misconceptions in the local community by running projects which involve working alongside other groups
