The project will solve the problem of the broken roof of Poltimore House. Ten years after the Poltimore House Trust took ownership of the rapidly-deteriorating building, and five years after it was safeguarded by a huge temporary tin roof, we now have support from English Heritage to start the repair of this Grade II* listed building by mending the roof, so long as we can achieve the match funding. Then we can restore the stucco Saloon of c.1740, the great stair and other fine rooms.

The project will focus on raising funds for the roof - our first big problem. The award of £500,000 from English Heritage demonstrates the significance of Poltimore House, and the project viability to restore the House to good condition for 21st-century purposes. To secure that grant we need to raise £147,729. With community and learning projects now approved and grants applied for, we can confidently develop Poltimore for communities and participants to take the project into the future.
