The project aims to offer opportunities for schools, community groups and individuals who would not otherwise be able to visit the theatre to do so free of charge. For some, this will mean having the opportunity of experiencing the power and excitement of live theatre for the first time.
It ran from 10:00 AM, 6 December 2010 to 10:00 AM, 4 January 2011
Making a visit to the theatre is becoming increasingly difficult for schools and community groups. In the current economic climate, parents and other individuals are less able to afford to pay for trips and extra-curricular activities, and the Rarely Cover scheme in schools means that the added expense of a supply teacher is added to already costly trips. Both of these factors have seen a decline in the theatre visits that play an important part in education.
The Enter Stage Left Scheme will offer local schools and community groups the opportunity to apply for up to £300 of funding to cover the costs of a visit to the theatre to see a production, take part in a workshop, or obtain assisted places for their pupils or members in our regular classes and courses. RTT will work closely with the local council, schools and partner organisations in order to establish areas of greatest need.
