Gloucestershire Community Foundation is calling on all who can afford to forego their Winter Fuel Payment to donate the money to those for whom it is not nearly enough. The money raised by the Appeal will be used to reach the vulnerable and elderly most in need in our county.

Situation
Many vulnerable people die each winter from causes directly attributable to the cold and poor living conditions, the vast majority being aged 65 or over. In Gloucestershire as many as 60,000 households are currently classed as living in fuel poverty. It is shocking that in the 21st century that people in our society struggle to stay warm and healthy during the coldest weather.
Solution
The money raised by the Gloucestershire Surviving Winter Appeal will be used to reach the people most in need of help to make sure that they can stay warm, eat well and remain mobile. The Foundation will use its ready made network of charities and community groups to identify winter need and ensure that the money raised gets to those who need it most.
