We want to make it easy for street children to know what their rights are and how to claim them, and for governments to be aware that there is finally authoritative guidance from the UN to make sure street children can access their rights.
It ran from 12:00 PM, 28 November 2017 to 12:00 PM, 5 December 2017
Registered Charity in England and Wales (1046579)
Street-connected children are often unaware of their rights. They also often do not have full access to them. Governments often do not enact their responsibilities towards street children, claiming they do not have the guidance to do so. However, the UN recently released such guidance. Many governments will be unaware of this, however. Furthermore, many organisations working with street-connected children are also unaware of this, of its potential impact, and how to use it to fulfil their aims.
The AWARE project will create a wealth of communications materials in a number of languages that will make the UN guidance and its significance easier for street children, organisations and governments to understand. These materials will be distributed across CSC's network of 100+ members globally. Guidance and support will be provided on how to use the materials to advocate for the implementation of the UN guidance, and encourage activities that benefit the welfare of street-connected children
