The need to teach very young children about the potential threats to their safety is crucial in raising a happy and safe generation. Children need to develop skills to identify situations where their safety is at risk (eg. “stranger danger”, inappropriate “secrets”, bullying) and know how to get help. In addition, parents who want to equip their children with these skills need support to do so in an age-appropriate, non-threatening way.

Feeling Happy, Feeling Safe is a series of short stories written explicitly for pre-school children which deals with various safety scenarios and helps adults to discuss them in context and without raising fears. These stories were originally published in book form but we will update them and turn them into short animations which we will publish on our website. They will be free to access and will provide a simple, child-friendly resource for parents or early years professionals.
