To prevent climate change, global greenhouse gas emissions have to peak within the next 5 years and fall fast after that. However, they’re still rising. According to analysis from financial think tank Carbon Tracker, at least 80% of the world’s proven reserves of oil, coal and gas must stay in the ground. We simply cannot continue to burn fossil fuels if we’re to stay within a safe level of warming of the planet.

We are campaigning to keep fossil fuels in the ground, to push investment into the development of renewable power and to draw together a large and diverse group of people to take action on climate change. We will highlight the stories of those affected by the impacts of climate change here in the UK to help us build and sustain mass public action in the run up to international climate negotiations and beyond, and put pressure on government leaders to take transformative action.
