    Situation

    Physical and learning disabilities are poorly understood in Burma. The government spend on healthcare is shockingly low, and thousands of children are unable to access adequate care to manage their conditions. There are hardly any specialist care facilities for disabled children, and a severe lack of properly qualified staff in physiotherapy and special needs education. We have also come acro

    Solution

    We have started an outreach program which involves holding community meetings and seminars to raise awareness of physical and learning disabilities, and would like to expand this to other parts of the country. We would like to send our staff to communities where there is little or no access to medical facilities, so that they can provide information on healthcare as well as find children in need of surgery and/or ongoing medical treatment who can then be brought to our disabled care centre.
