Disasters ruin, and often end, lives. Reducing their impact: cutting down on the number of lives lost due to the disaster itself and then lack of water, food, shelter or ongoing violence, is vital. But that's not easy: it takes significant skill to effectively provide clean water for thousands of desperate people . Not only that: the vast majority of lives are saved in the first hours after any disaster. And across the world, disasters often strike where people lack the skills they most need.

RedR UK trains lifesavers. We provide people with the skills they need to respond fast, effectively and safely to disaster. From water, sanitation and hygiene provision, to security and safety, our courses enable people to save lives, on the ground, when disaster strikes, and to stay safe themselves. And our capacity-building doesn't stop there. We also lay foundations for new organisations to form to meet need, and share skills across communities to help reduce the risk of future devastation.
