Situation
Being homeless is tough enough, but being alone, cold and hungry could make a desperate situation worse. Southend has high levels of deprivation and the current economic climate is making things worse for local people. HARP can cook up to 700 dinners during the 12 days of Christmas and the weather and extra numbers mean that there is a strain on resources. If the appeal target of £7k is exceeded, the money will be spent where the need is greatest.
Solution
Buy donating £10 you will be doing much more than buying a Christmas dinner. People will also have access to our full range of services where the real issues can be faced. HARP's specialist staff can help ease isolation and provide housing, education, employment, volunteering and health advice.
