This project enables people to settle in a Kids for Kids funded village when they leave refugee camps. The project provides them with essential tools and equipment to help them set up home whilst ensuring that the existing community also benefits from their arrival by involving them in village life.

    Situation

There is a lack of support provided to IDP's and their children once they leave the security of temporary emergency aid camps in Darfur. Emergency aid solves short term problems but we aim to help them return home permanently and feel valued within a sustainable community.

    Solution

Kids for Kids will provide a Welcome Home Programme for IDP's to enable them to be self sufficient when they leave the camps and to integrate them into the close-knit village communities. We will incorporate the new familes into the exisiting Goat Loan Scheme that provides them with 6 goats. After 2 years they provide the same number of kid goats to another family. We will give both the new family and a village family a donkey, blankets, mosquito net, farming tools and basic kitchen equipment.
