The Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch celebrates 60 years of producing theatre for the people of outer East London & Essex in 2013. We aim to create a fund that will allow us to stage a series of productions and events that will engage and inspire new audiences by celebrating this momentous occassion.

    Situation

The Queen's Theatre is aware there are pockets of non-art-participation within Havering and surrounding areas, alongside a shift change in demographic, and the ageing population of the Borough. The Queen's needs to inspire and engage with a new, younger audience in order to continue its work for the next sixty years. The project will also tackle the Theatre's image of charitable staus, one that local people can get involved in and help to make a difference to their community.

    Solution

The Queen's will stage a number of events throughout its anniversary year that will raise the profile of the work the Theatre has produced in the last 60 years but also engage new audiences through a range of activities that will help to generate a new audience base for the next 60 years of the Theatre. The Theatre will open a two-way dialogue with audiences and potential new-audiences giving them the chance to have direct input as to what is programmed during the diamond celebrations.
