Our mobile classroom, used to provide health and drug prevention education to 10,000 children annually in the Bournemouth and E. Dorset/ W. Hants. area, needs replacing. The mobile classroom is home to Harold our giraffe mascot who plays a very important part in our programmes.

    Situation

Children are facing ever increasing pressures to damage their health. Through annual visits to the Life Education mobile classrooms young children progressively acquire the skills and knowledge to make their own healthy choices. If we are unable to replace our mobile classroom which is over 10 years old, increasingly requiring repair and has outdated technology which cannot be replaced, then we will be unable to deliver our health programmes to over 10,000 children each year.

    Solution

They learn what is required to keep their bodies healthy, the types of food needed for a healthy body, and the effects and risks associated with the use of drugs, including alcohol and tobacco. We also teach how to cope with bullying and peer pressure. The benefits of this preventative education do not just help the children who participate in our programmes, but also cascade out into the greater communit,y as those children who make the right healthy choices will become better citizens.
