Situation

Cancer can be a frightening and overwhelming experience for both people with cancer and their families. It can often lead to feelings of powerlessness, fear for the future and a reduced enjoyment of life. Our 'Coping with Cancer Stress' programme shows that there is much that people can do to reduce their anxiety and to feel more in control of life. This has the result of improving people’s quality of life and wellbeing, regardless of their prognosis.

Solution

The project will solve the problem by teaching participants well-researched tools and strategies to help them lead happier, more meaningful and more fulfilled lives. The onsite course is taught over 5 levels (36 weekly meetings over 15 months) and participants can choose how many levels they want to complete. The online course consists of 12 weekly webinars and it allows people all over the country to participate, especially those who are housebound or socially isolated.
