The reduction in public sector funded projects has resulted in an increase in the number of voluntary organisations and the expectation that people will give their time free. Although the need for volunteers to support such groups is growing the funding to support their training and development is decreasing. Our project will solve this problem as it will provide training for the very people who are needed to support these developments.

We understand the importance of support and we will solve the problem by equipping the groups themselves with the knowledge and skills to provide this support and enable them to access the benefits that involving volunteers can have on their organisation. Areas the training will focus on include (i) Expectations of a volunteer co-ordinator (ii) Awareness of the recruitment/selection process for volunteers (iii) Health and safety good practice (iv) Supporting and supervising volunteers.
