Countless thousands of children of poor families in developing countries have one dream – Education – Education – Education. They know that the only route out of the poverty they have been born into, is to receive a good education. In rural Kenya many children achieve good grades at primary level. But there the dream ends. At secondary level schooling has a cost which their family cannot afford. They are willing to work hard to achieve their dream, but poverty works against them at every turn.

Akamba Aid invites applications from students in the rural Mwingi District, who have just completed their primary schooling. We look for students who are from extremely poor backgrounds. Then from school reports, the recommendation of head teachers, and our Kenyan agents, we select those we feel are likely to achieve good results in secondary education. We offer them support on four year courses at good secondary schools in the area for one year, which is extended if good progress is maintained.
