We are aiming to recruit sponsors of our runner this year, Dr Ajay Khandelwal and hope to raise in the region of £2,000. This will help towards our work with isolated older people in the local community, e.g. paying for minibus hire to take people to a weekly chair-based gentle exercise group.

    Situation

We recently bid for a free place from the Mayor of Southwark's office, and were really delighted to learn that we'd been successful! Our runner (Ajay Khandelwal) is from the local group the "Dulwich Runners", and he was very keen to support us. Ajay will therefore be doing his best on Sunday 25th April to improve on his current time of 4 hrs 55 mins! He is married with two daughters, lives in Forest Hill and works as a Senior Research Advisor. He used to be a keen cyclist, but found that running fitted in better with a young family! He ran his first London Marathon in 2007 for the British Heart Foundation having sadly lost both his father and his father-in-law to heart attacks. This year, Ajay says "I'm very excited to be running for Dulwich Helpline. I believe their work is special because it brings people together to provide company and conversation, and I don't think there's anything more important in life than that! I've just turned 40, and so I'm making an extra effort this year and want to knock another hour off my time to finish in 3.55. I'm running 3 times a week, clocking up around 20 miles. So please, I'd be grateful for any support."
