We urgently need to replace the classrooms at Nower Wood, our flagship Educational Nature Reserve near Leatherhead in Surrey. Environmental education is integral to the work we do and our Education Team now inspire over 15,000 children every year about the wildlife on their doorstep.

    Situation

Nower Wood is Surrey Wildlife Trust's flagship Educational Nature Reserve and provides environmental or wildlife education for children from primary school up to A levels. However, the classrooms, which were purchased over thirty years ago and were bought SECOND-HAND are in desperate need of replacing. The separate toilets also often freeze in the Winter making them unusable.

    Solution

We want to build a new eco-friendly building from FSC certified timber insulated using natural materials and heated using recycled wood pellets. We will also use rainwater to flush the toilets. The new building will also incorporate new, clean, working toilets and will also give us an extra classroom which will allow us to cater for additional A-level students or those with special needs.
