Joshua Orphan Care Trust provides education and feeding centres for orphans in the rural communities near Blantyre. A clean source of water, for each of these communities, is an essential factor in providing that care.

Situation
Each of Joshua’s nineteen communities suffer from the debilitating effects of significant poverty coupled with rising HIV/AIDS rates, poor road networks, lack of clean, piped water and electricity, and very few health and education facilities. Drilling boreholes are the current best way to provide clean water to these remote villages. Rainfall in the dry season is not sufficient to provide for local needs. By reducing the journey time for families to fetch water from other sources, children can more easily focus on their school time. Our immediate need is for £5,000 to drill water boreholes to provide clean water to these communities.
