Poaching of wildlife using snares and spears for the bushmeat trade is increasing in Kenya. Care for the Wild International (CWI) funds two teams to carry out desnaring and anti-poaching patrols to remove snares and deter poachers.

Wild animals are poached for their body parts of for the illegal "bush meat" trade. They are killed by wire snares - indiscriminate killers - that are set on animal routes. Elephants for Ivory - Rhino's for horn and Giraffe, Zebra and many more species for bush meat.


Our primary focus is snare removal and anti-poaching patrols. Our teams are local tribesman who know the terrain and paths, They monitor and track wild herd movement and gather intelligence to capture poachers and carry out file rescues of trapped and injured animals.
