    Situation

Time for Families Programme, is a parenting support project. It is designed to help parents understand how they can ensure their pre-school child enjoys and learn through everyday activities. The programme will promote and empower parents to value their role as primary educators of their children and engage families in activities that will ensure children are better prepared for and are more likely to succeed at school. We are delivering this programme through 5 weekly groups based around key Early Years development milestones: - Story-time - Messy Play - Cook and Eat - Gardening - Music and Movement. We are using the highly successful Peers Early Education Partnership (Peep) model to structure the group sessions. Peep is designed to help prepare children for formal learning by nurturing and stimulating their young minds. WelCare’s activities will demonstrate to parents that learning can be fun and that by applying the skills they develop with us at home, they can reduce day to day stresses, improve the quality of family life, and develop their parenting skills. The Time for families programme targets local families struggling with the impact of social disadvantage, specifically, - Families with English as a second language,- - Lone parent households, predominately in areas of social housing; - Families whose children are identified as being in need and are in receipt of free school meals. - Families struggling to get on with their lives after the impact of Domestic Abuse. -Parents coping with the affects of their own mental health concerns.
