Little Rock provide the disabled children of Kibera slum in Nairobi access to a quality inclusive education. AbleChildAfrica is supporting the drive to build a new centre to house and support the work that Little Rock is doing. With the help of Euromoney we are almost there...you can help too!
It ran from 12:00 PM, 1 July 2012 to 12:00 PM, 1 December 2012
Registered Charity in England and Wales (326859)
Little Rock started in single rented room with 5 students......it now has 20 staff and over 500 pupils. Your money will go towards the cost of building a new centre. Space is at a premium for Little Rock, who are struggling to find space to provide education to all 500 pupils - so a new centre is essential to be able to support more children throughout Kibera.
The organisation is growing fast and reaching more and more children, and supporting the parents to gain a sustainable income, as well as trying innovative ideas - such as substituting a water donation for school fees, or providing parents a space to do their washing. A new centre will carry on this great work. It will also provide, safe and positive space for young disabled children - creating a great environment for them to learn and develop with the support of Little Rock's expert staff.
