    — Alex Ahmet sibling to Leyla Ahmet - undiagnosed complex medical needs

Situation

The shortage reported by families of appropriate sporting activities for children who have complex medical needs and particularly those which include well siblings. This gap is exacerbated through a lack of the additional support and encouragement which may help them to access existing services. Children with complex medical needs face exclusion from sports as a result. Without this they face not only lack of exercise, but also lowered ability in motor skills, confidence and mental health

Solution

Maypole Active will provide inclusive sporting activities across three classes per week, for children with a complex medical need, disability or special educational need. Through a professionally trained team of staff and volunteers, Active helps children develop motor skills such as; hand-eye coordination, build confidence, promote independence, it also provides a safe place to release pent-up emotions through physical activity. An additional benefit is a respite break for parents/carers
