Our current temporary accommodation is no longer adequate. We have found a nearby property that we wish to purchase, that will be a permanent home for volunteer cancer support for the people of South Tyneside.

Cancer Connections has established a popular and prominent place in the local community as the focus for cancer support. Because on the rapidly growing demand for all our services we need to move to larger premises. We now welcome 7-10 new visitors seeking help each month; over 80 return visitors, 8-10 requests for counselling, 8-10 requests for financial advice and provide 30-40 complementary therapies per month. The property we wish to buy will provide ideal accommodation and allow us to develop new support initiatives, and will also be used by other related charities. It is currently let by the vendor while we raise the funds necessary for purchase and refurbishment. The sum required is £350,000 of which £158,000 has been raised to date, £98,000 locally South Tyneside is a recognised area of social deprivation and external funding is needed to provide this invaluable community venture.
