East Sussex WRAS has raised enough funds to set up a new veterinary casualty care centre especially for wildlife casualties based in the grounds and run along side Horsebridge Veterinary Centre, Hailsham, East Sussex. The unit will be run by volunteers and veterinary support will be provided with the help of the staff at the main Veterinary Centre. We need additional funding to help purchase equipment for use in the centre.

    Situation

The unit has already received funding to erect the wooden building and provide basic facilities, including electric, water, drainage, air conditioning and shower. WRAS has already raise funds for some equipment like the infusion pumps, CCTV for monitoring casualties and received grants for an examination table and light. We also need funding for more veterinary cages and heat pads as well as second wooden building for holding deer and an isolation unit. There are various items needs and these can be obtained on contacting our charity direct, from things like, outdoor storage units costing £100, the deer unit costing £4,000, more veterinary cages costing £3,500. The unit will cost approximately £20,000 a year to run and we would like to have a paid member of staff running the unit eventually which would cost £15,000 a year. Securing funding for five or more years would be extremely benifical to our charity and the casualties we save.
