With the urban population overtaking the rural for the first time in 2007, cities have never been more critical to our future. Forum for the Future is focusing on how we can live in cities in a sustainable way. Each year we publish the Sustainable Cities Index, which takes an objective look at how the UK’s 20 largest cities are progressing on sustainability criteria. A modest amount of funding could help us to improve and extend this work to give it an even greater impact. In Bristol, we are leading a major ten-year initiative, working with a range of organisations, to help make Bristol a showcase sustainable city-region.
