    Situation

ASpire is a mentoring and support organisation for young people and adults with Asperger Syndrome, based in Brighton and Hove. The project also provides training for orgnisations on supporting people with Asperger Syndrome. The social group is a popular event at which young people with Asperger Syndrome can meet others in a non-judgemental and socially safe environment. This group: •provides a unique opportunity offering young people with Asperger’s the opportunity to practice and develop social interaction skills in a safe and supported social environment. •works with clients whose high support needs mean that they are unable to access other services, and supports them in social interaction. Each individual is risk assessed and risk management strategies put in place where required to ensure safe participation and maximum inclusion. •encourages participants to make decisions and be involved. •actively encourages participants to express their views on acceptable behaviour and to act accordingly, promoting group responsibility. The group requires staff costs, games and refreshments to operate on a weekly basis. These total £2000 per year.
