A lovely home for orphaned and vulnerable children, we are seeking to help Misthy Cee care for its 65 looked after children, and develop its small school (open to all in the community and charging small fees to those who can afford them) to enable it towards becoming self-sufficient.

Situation
MCDC helps children in serious danger of becoming part of the huge street child problem in the cities of Ghana. Started in 2001, 65 children are currently in care, many are orphaned and have disabilities. Their chances of receiving quality care, support and education without involvement in this project are very small. We are determined to help them to a better life where they can realise their potential.
Solution
The school building which accommodates up to 180 children, is now open with 125+ children attending. 35 children are resident in the orphanage. We will complete, furnish and equip the buildings, providing 90 double desks, 100 chairs, 14 cupboards and 20 mattresses. We will fit gutters and downpipes and do the painting of the buildings. We will help pay the wages of 3 carers and the headteacher, and provide 5 skill-sharing volunteers to help with staff training, offer support and encouragement.
