    Situation

The charity ACE brokered enthusiastic arts volunteers into Kids’ City’s activities programmes giving quality, multi-faceted, inspiring experiences, until ACE closed through lack of funding in 2010. Today arts activities are low key, led by playworkers with varying degrees of enthusiasm for arts. We want to establish a quality arts programme in-house, and building a specialised arts strand to our successful volunteering programme.

    Solution

It will link with colleges and universities in London to recruit students and graduates who will provide one-hour arts workshops each week. Also, recruit young people not in education, employment or training who have arts interests and talents to join the scheme and help create connections for them with the arts community. The children benefit from arts specialists, the artists from the life experience including the potential to further their work in education.
