The cost of updating and expanding this facility is estimated to be in the region of £100,000. So far we have raised £35,000. This work is urgently needed and we are therefore anxious to raise the balance in order to provide the verybest we can for the children involved as well as the volunteers.

    Situation

Very difficult and to a certain extent unhealthy conditions for the provision of vital Equine Facilitated Education and Therapy to young chilkdren with special needs in the Bournemouth and Southamnpton catchment areas. Over the years it has become evident that this particular branch of our work caters quite extensiveky to wheelchair users and to children who are dependent on cover in much UK weather and therefore a need for good ventilation. Also shortage of ponies for the numbers involved.

    Solution

    1) By making the routes between car parks and riding school wheelchair friendly; therefore lessening the burden on the volunteers. 2) By providing footing in the riding school that is easier for walkers (volunteers) and better for the ponies feet. 3) By providing the necessary ventilation for health (particularly children with breathing difficulties) 4) By erecting the right type of miorrors, thus enabling the physiotherapts to check their work and the children to self-correct positions.
