RedR trains lifesavers. Sudan faces an overwhelming humanitarian crisis, and has too few experienced aid workers to provide desperate people with vital food, water and shelter, while staying safe. We will provide aid workers with those skills, helping lifesavers save lives.

    Situation

The UN describes the situation in Sudan as 'an overwhelming humanitarian crisis.' War in South Sudan has sent refugees over the border into Sudan, and renewed fighting in Darfur has displaced 543,000 people - the highest number since 2004. More than 6.1m people now need urgent assistance, and in Darfur there is a daily shortfall of over 8m litres of water. But experienced aid workers have had to leave the country: those who remain do not have the skills or experience to deal with the crisis.

    Solution

RedR is one of the few remaining international organisations in Sudan. And our focus on training and capacity-building is exactly what the country's fledgling, dedicated but inexperienced and under-skilled aid workers need to ensure they can help deliver the water, food and shelter the people of Sudan urgently need. With offices in Khartoum and Darfur - and two decades' experience in training aid workers - we will help aid workers to save lives in Sudan.
