Situation

The land is threatened by the spread of oil palm plantations, and working with a local NGO, the WLT will save a vital corridor. Without this conmnection the isoalted populations will almost certainly continue to decline. There are hundreds of rescue orangutans in captivity, with virtually no hope of ever being released into the wild. The only real hope for saving the orangutan from extinction is protecting more land.
