    Situation

Through the delivery of an 8 month capacity building project we will increase the capacity of disabled people, and as a result their communities, enabling them to live and work side by side and to influence change, tackle discrimination, develop positive relationships and build inclusive community. Communities in Policymaking is a development of the renowned and highly successful Partners in Policymaking programme (run in Northern Ireland twice previously). The programme will run once a year from years one to four. By the end of year four up to 100 disabled and disadvantaged people will have graduated and be active in their communities providing measurable benefits for parent / carers, family members, friends and organisations within the community, voluntary and statutory sectors. In year 5 the project will work alongside graduates using their talent and learning to organise a Festival of Inclusion in four locations across Northern Ireland, showcasing the work completed and providing an opportunity for people to come together, share, acknowledge and celebrate diversity.
