    Situation

Worship, or puja, is central to all Hindu practitioners - be it in their home or at their local temple. Nature is central this worship. Flowers, fruit, water and milk are all regularly used in offerings. As we face increasing environmental challenges around the world, as Hindus we should strive to make our offerings to the Lord as environmentally friendly as possible.

    Solution

Hindu temples play a central role in all Hindu communities as places of worship, celebration and education. By encouraging and supporting Hindu Temples to employ high standards of environmental practice, we wish to create a sense of environmental awareness in the Hindu community. Beginning from the temple, this change of consciousness can then spread all aspects of Hindu daily life.
