Voted through by over 1300 delegates at the World Wilderness Congress in Alaska, this initiative was proposed by Wild Britain in tandem with the Foundation. Once established the network will aim to share best practice and promote a coordinated position on protection and restoration of wildlands - particularly for negotiation of CAP reform in Brussels. This initiative has already been welcomed by wildland organisations that recognise a commonality of interest, but are at present often operating in isolation from each other. The opportunities for greater coordination are enormous, with up to 25 million acres of land possibly becoming available for natural habitat restoration across the continent over the next 25 years.
