    Situation

The Issue: - Unsustainable food/crop production in energy-wasteful greenhouses, using non-renewable energy - Lack of greenhouse integration with associated buildings for improved energy management - Lack of leadership and investment for low-carbon greenhouses - Confusion about what is 'best practice' amongst producers and consumers The Living Rainforest's Challenge: - To complete the transformation of The Living Rainforest centre into a working demonstration of carbon-neutral design and practice - To demonstrate the potential for a dramatic reduction in the environmental impact of greenhouse-grown food and crops - To raise the remaining 25% matched funding required to complete the second phase of construction of the EC Integrated Greenhouse Project - To lead the way in educating the public about greener greenhouse design
