Bristol Samaritans Centre Refurbishment

Our Centre, which we own, was built in the 17th century and is in much need of complete refurbishment. This will give us far better and expanded facilities, including improved disabled access, for both callers and volunteers and hence allow us to further develop our humanitarian service to the community.

Location

Situation

Our building is old and needs refurbishment to provide much improved facilities for our callers and volunteers so that we can expanded to meet todays demands on our free and confidential listening service. This will helps us attract and retain our caring volunteers who have to man the premises 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We have drawn up plans to completely refurbish our building and have received Planning Permission to carry the work out once finance has been secured which we hope to achieve early in 2010. The total cost of the Project is anticipated to be in the region of £450k including temporary relocation costs whilst the work is carried out, all professional fees and VAT. Of this sum the branch has already raised £425k and is now working to achieve the balance.
