    Situation

Twa communities are among the poorest and most marginalized group in Rwanda. The Rwandan government is unwilling to recognise the existence of minority and indigenous populations, especially after the recent genocide. Due to their historical marginalisation, there is a lack of capable Batwa leaders able to advocate for implementation of their community’s human rights. Batwa NGOs and leaders lack the capacities and skills necessary to advocate for implementation of their human rights.

    Solution

The aim of this initiative is therefore to create a long-term pool of Batwa leaders and build the organizational capacities of Batwa NGO(s) so they are better able to advocate for the implementation of their human rights.
