    Situation

Twa (aka Pygmies/Batwa) women face double discrimination, for belonging to a minority/indigenous community and for being female. Women from minority or indigenous communities are poorer, more excluded, less visible. They are unaware of their right. They have no access to school. And they are victim of physical and sexual violence. Few organizations support these women and when they do exist, they often do not have the capacity, resources and knowledge to make a real change on the ground.

    Solution

The aim of this initiative is therefore to build the capacity of local partners who work with Twa women in order to equip them with the right skills and knowledge to advocate for an improvement of the condition of Twa women and ensure that these women can enjoy their human rights.
