Our winter show, Rumplestiltskin, will tour to over 40 rural and small venues. Theatre tours to areas of rural and social deprivation are in high demand. At points NTC will be the only show some children will see. We are trying to raise £2,500 from our current and new supporters towards this project

    Situation

NTC will engage with those audiences who would otherwise be excluded from quality theatrical experiences through transport, financial, geographic or social constraints, providing a positive social artistic experience. All ages and social classes attend NTC productions. Many Rural Touring schemes report a dearth of high-quality touring theatre for children and young people. Did you know that for the whole of Kielder village to go to the theatre in Newcastle it would cost over £5,000.

    Solution

We put the props, cast and set into a truck and take the whole show to the people. Children, young people, family audiences and the elderly in particular, form the focus of NTC's work, helping to develop communities across generations, enabling them to experience high quality professional theatre in a village hall, church or school venue in their community, in turn enhancing well-being and social cohesion.
