80% of Uganda’s population is below 30 years old. 80% of this group are unemployed with only 25% completing secondary school. The country has been in conflict for the last 25 years, with the north destroyed by the LRA. The consequence being a generation that has known only conflict and one that has few social or economic opportunities.

Kira Training Centre teaches holistic life skills, covering conflict resolution and restorative justice to encourage self-development of each student. Intermediate technologies including tippy taps (as part of our WASH programme) and fuel efficient stoves which maximise the resources available, whilst vocational and entrepreneurship skills in tailoring, and carpentry develop the ability to generate income through independent business start-up or employment. Sustainable farming is fundamental.
