Supporting young people in London and Gateshead who have been faced with homelessness to address mental and physical health needs. Our Healthy Resilient Lives project will will work with 85 young people in year one to improve mental and physical well being.
It ran from 12:00 PM, 29 November 2016 to 12:01 PM, 6 December 2016
Registered Charity in England and Wales (1107554)
The young people we work with who have been homeless present poorer health outcomes than the general population, 80% of our clients reporting poor mental health at any one time. Our young people often want to attend the gym or access therapeutic support but face financial barriers from doing so, and want to eat healthily but have never been taught how to cook well on a budget.
The young people we house, who have experienced trauma and difficult challenges will have the opportunity to access programs to address their health needs. We will set up personal budgets for each young person and alongside staff the young person will be empowered to improve their health using this personal budget. The budget will be available to use to access programs which address physical and mental health needs.
