We are setting up a Mens Spoken English Group for men within the East Reading community who have English as an Additional Language to help them access every day services and facilities and improve their employment prospects.

Situation
East Reading is a very diverse community with many people not speaking English as their first language. We are setting up a Mens Spoken English Group in order to help people improve their English to enable them to access services such as their GP, schools, employment and training, opening a bank account - activities which many people take for granted. We have been offered a grant of £2500 towards the setting up of this group and are curretly seeking matched funding. This would cover the costs of sessional staff, hall hire and teaching activities and materials for one year. We would also be targetting older men within the community especially those new to the UK.
