    Situation

The need We work in severely deprived areas with high rates of material poverty and unemployment. We find that in such areas, there is a danger of a ‘cycle of disadvantage’, as children in households with negative perceptions of education and authority are more likely to truant, behave badly at school and consequently struggle to thrive and achieve. The project Our work addresses the issues that prevent children from achieving their individual potential. Practitioners are available in schools to children and their families throughout the day, and run one to one and group sessions on topics such as bullying, alcohol/drugs, sexual health, friendships, mental health, transition and housing. Adopting a community gives you the opportunity to champion the work we do in one of the most boroughs in the country. Outcomes By providing the funding we need to manage and coordinate our service in a community, you will enable us to effectively support our practitioners in that area. In turn, our aim to give every child they need to fulfil their individual potential becomes more achievable. Investment: £25,000-75,000 Period: 1-3 year/s Geography: Borough-specific Impact: Approximately 2,200 vulnerable pupils per year
