Lifelites ensures that children's hospices can spend their time and money on caring for the patients and their families. Each project costs us around £40,000 to run over a three year period (rising to £45,000 for a new children's hospice). We are unusual in that we are a new charity with an established financial committment. If we are to expand our services to meet the increased demand from the anticipated 45 children's hospices around the country, we will need the funding for all of these - and that's not taking into account the cost of running our charity. We know our services are essential to the children in the hospices. Sandra Dumitrescu at Ty Hafan Children's Hospice says, "“The Lifelites equipment is a valuable part of our resources for the children. For some, it is one of the last things that they can have some form of control over. When we ask the children what activity is their favourite, 9 times out of 10 they say: ‘The computers’!” We are unique in that we don't just put in the kit and walk away. Our servies are on-going. To assist us with our Futurevision project, a donation of £250,000 would be a significant contribution towards helping us to reach out and provide our services for all the new children's hospices in the country through to 2010. Please note that we seek to cover the operational costs of our charity through judicial investment, so this financial request relates entirely to the provision of our projects for the children.
