This multi-art form experimental theatre piece about the notion of self and belonging, links socialisation and our environment to the bigger picture to create a bold, searing and heart felt piece of contemporary performance.

    Situation

ENGENDERED SPECIES A quest for identity beyond borders. A celebration of searching, being lost, found and everything in between. ENGENDERED SPECIES is a powerful, intimate and gleefully haphazard exploration of humanity. Why am I? What am I? Does that label mean me? Tear up the boxes and make your own Wendy House. Playing in the cross-currents that connect us, ENGENDERED SPECIES asks, what makes me who I am? And invites the question… who could I be? I began research and development on an exciting new show with Peggy Shaw from Split Britches at Contact theatre, Manchester in May 2006. This collaboration continued for a further two weeks to present the first work in progress of Engendered Species on the 28th and 29th of April at the Drill Hall London as part of the 'Under Construction' programme. www.drillhall.co.uk (DVD available). TransAction is now looking for funding to stage a full production of Engendered Species and support for a UK and international tour. Future plans for Engendered Species Next 12 months Continue to develop my writing, devising, and performance skills with the support of experienced director, Peggy Shaw developing me as an artist and creative manager of the future. Secure further support from partnership organisations and funding from a variety of sources. TransAction will receive another commission from the Drill Hall from 2008 onwards. Work with a skilled tour booker and marketing professional I will continue to perform, manage and direct all aspects of TransAction Theatre Company. Longer term Stage and document the full production of Engendered Species working with the Director, designers and the Drill Hall. Work with a skilled tour booker, marketing professionals and TransAction’s technician to tour Engendered Species to thirty UK and international theatre venues. Touring Engendered Species will strengthen and build new links with medium scale theatre venues and arts organisations. TransAction’s work will reach a greater amount of audiences and its reputation will grow. Engendered Species addresses diversity and inclusion issues will attempt to engage with audiences from a broader, more diverse range of backgrounds. TransAction and future venues that program Engendered Species will promote ethic, LGBT minority, disability inclusion and equal opportunities policies. Raising the profile of TransAction will lead to future funding partnerships, business sponsorship, awards, residencies and commissions. TransAction will continue to develop work with new collaborators. Funding this project will invest in TransAction build a national and international reputation, create new links and develop sustainable touring high quality queer – feminist work.
