    Situation

Building Bridges has been running since 2006 and was led by young people, who were trained to deliver research and influence policymakers about serious youth violence. Following the report of its findings, the project received a London Peace Award in 2008, and the project lead met the Prime Minister. Following from the success of the project, the Female Voice in Violence project was developed. This project looks specifically at the how gangs and serious youth violence affected women and girls. This research project aims to give voice to those people who are yet to be considered by policymakers and therefore do not have services in place to support them. Interim findings of this project are due to be presented to policymakers at the end of 2009 and FVV will be developed in three other cities across England for the next two years. Both projects aim to have a lasting impact of policy around serious youth violence, and reduce the number of offenders and victims across England.
