    Situation

Children can be held in immigration removal centres with their families for reasons of immigration control. We believe this is wrong. We provide legal advice and information to families in detention and help secure their release by applying for bail for them. Together with The Children's Society, under the banner `OutCry!' (www.outcrycampaign.org.uk) we are campaigning for an end to the immigration detention of children, which is unnecessary, damaging and expensive. Over 1,000 children a year are held in immigration detention centres and more than half are released back into the community. Children we have worked with have suffered physical and mental ill-health and developmental delays as a result of their experiences in detention. Help us stop this abhorrent practice.
